One of the joys of geocaching is that the whole world is our game board! From the hustle and bustle of the city to the tranquility of the countryside, geocaches await seekers everywhere to discover their secrets. There are geocaches in almost every location on planet Earth.
This week, join us as we sail to New Caledonia, a French collectivity in the South Pacific, to discover the region’s first Geocache of the Week, Le phare Amédée (GC416NJ)!
Imagine sailing on open water with nothing to see but the waves. Just you, your boat, and the sound of the wind rustling the sails high above you. For many people, this image evokes calm and zen. But as night approaches, darkness envelops your craft. Luckily, you won’t have to wait long in the dark when you see the highlight of your journey, and waypoint Le phare Amédée, a stunning lighthouse in New Caledonia!
To start your search, visit New Caledonia’s capital, Noumea, to take a boat to the island. Serving as a gateway to the region, Noumea is the perfect place to prepare for an adventure to the small islands of the collectivity. Hop on a water taxi at the ferry terminal and get ready to see impressive clear water!
After 45 minutes on board, the boat stopped at Îlot Amédée. Although just a speck of an island, it is very important to boats in the area thanks to its GOTW name, Le phare Amédée! At 184 feet (56 m), the lighthouse emits light that is visible 20 nautical miles (37 km). Before finding a cache on this island, it’s natural to want to see the view from above. But it’s not easy; the climb is 247 steps to the top!
A spiral staircase takes you to a vantage point for the island and its surroundings. With each step you take, you wonder if you made the right decision. Could the view be worth all this hard work? Having come this far, you hope the answer is yes! The final step burns your muscles and signals the end of this unique climb.
Refreshed by the stunning views from the highest point for miles, it was finally time to take stock! To find this unique cache, you’ll need to visit the signage dotted with many locations, both near and far. After trying a few different places, it seemed hope of finding this cache might be lost – after all, this cache was in a fairly remote place. But wait, that’s cache! After a long boat trip, the feeling of the crop in the hand is just bliss. No matter where you go, a geocache won’t be too far away.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
